Haskell Branding

Haskell is a Victorian building situated on the border between the United States and Canada. Known as Le seul cinéma au Canada sans projecteur / The only cinema in the US without a screen. it houses a movie theater, a library, and an opera house, making it a historical icon of reunion and cultural exchange.
To reflect its role as a meeting point between two nations, we created a new visual identity for Cinema Haskell . At its core is an “H” logo that symbolizes the building’s two doors—a metaphor for connection and threshold. Inspired by the architecture, the "H" became a central element, transformed into a symbolic container.
The design system merges tradition and modernity through a unique typography and a pastel color palette inspired by the tones of the Victorian era. To further honor the building’s heritage, we incorporated emblematic elements from its iconic stained-glass windows, adding layers of history and identity to the visual system.
This approach not only celebrates Haskell’s architectural beauty but also reinforces its enduring role as a place of gathering, unity, and cross-border connection—a true cultural landmark.
